John Murphy

John Murphy is a licensed, Broker Associate and REALTOR® with RE/MAX Results.  He is licensed to practice real estate in Minnesota.  John’s license number is 40059306.  He specializes in residential real estate in the western suburbs of Minneapolis.

John has been a licensed REALTOR® since 2003 and a licensed broker since 2007.  He has been recognized by Mpls. St. Paul Magazine and Twin Cities Business Monthly as a Super Real Estate Agent in 2008, 2010 and 2011.  That recognition is based upon surveying consumers, peers and other real estate related professionals and is given to 4% of the agents in Minnesota.  It weights outstanding customer service more than overall sales volume.

John believes in providing greater transparency to the real estate business and so he publishes a blog, John Murphy Reports: Trends. Insight. Analysis.  He actively engages in a conversation about the Twin Cities housing market as well as national trends.  John may be the most prolific real estate blogger in the Twin Cities with over 800 entries and counting.  His clients appreciate the updates and insights he provides.

John is also a Certified Distressed Property Expert, CDPE.  This certification and training has provided John with the education and experience to be able to help home owners avoid foreclosure.  For home owners facing foreclosure or those who may be upside down on their house and facing a hardship, John may be able to help them navigate the challenges of dealing with the banks by selling their home as a short sale.

Janet Murphy

In 2010, John’s wife, Janet, earned her real estate license and is assisting John in his real estate business.  Janet is a licensed REALTOR® in Minnesota.  Her license number is 40193860.  Janet has excellent organizational and communications skills but her real knack is understanding people’s concerns when it comes to their homes.  She’s a gifted interior designer and helps John’s clients get their homes prepared and staged properly for the market.  She can work with your budget so if it happens to be tight, she’s got great ideas on how to stage your home for little money.  Home sellers really appreciate her sense of space, style and color.

In the past year, John, and his wife Janet who is a licensed REALTOR® with Results Support Services, have launched a real estate investment company where they buy, fix, and sell foreclosed homes in addition to their regular real estate business of helping clients buy and sell homes.  It’s not as easy as it seems on all the house flipping shows, but it has not only been fun and profitable, but it has been very rewarding for them as well.  They see themselves as part of the solution to help rebuild neighborhoods and cities devastated by the foreclosure crisis.  They provide beautifully updated and fully renovated homes often times for first time home buyers.  John has helped other investors also launch their own home renovation business.  There has never been a time like the present to launch such a venture.  If you have an interest in learning how, please contact John.

Having spent 18 years in the field of technology media where nearly half those years were in San Francisco and Silicon Valley during the internet boom and bubble, John was able to hone his marketing, advertising and communications skills while leading large national sales organizations in a highly competitive and fast paced field.  John led CMP Media’s InformationWeek to a record breaking year for a trade publication reaching $150,000,000 in sales.  In addition to holding other executive positions at CMP Media (now UBM Technology – United Business Media Technology) John went on to hold sales executive positions at IDG’s InfoWorld.  John’s passion for technology, media, communication and innovation, while fostered and developed in San Francisco and Silicon Valley, remains alive in well in his real estate business.

John’s extensive experience in media, technology, and advertising – both in print and online – as well as his corporate leadership of large sales and marketing organizations provides him with a depth and breadth of business experience and professionalism rarely found in real estate agents.  His background in negotiations of multi-million dollar contracts with multi-billion companies as well as extensive market research and analytical training help him deliver a level of pricing analysis and understanding most buyers and sellers are unaccustomed to in the Twin Cities.

John lives with his college sweetheart and wife of 23 years, Janet, along with their 6 children – 3 boys and 3 girls ages 20 18, 13, 11, 6, 5 – in Medina, MN.
